Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has apologised after his children’s book, Billy and the Epic Escape, sparked backlash from Indigenous Australian organisations. The book, which features an Indigenous character with cultural inaccuracies, led to calls from groups like The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Corporation (NATSIEC) for its withdrawal. Oliver and publisher Penguin Random House have expressed regret for publishing the book without Indigenous consultation, although they have not committed to pulling it from shelves.
