Withdrawn and almost scrapped several times over, Webb 0-6-2T 1054 has survived from 1888 to the present day more by luck than by judgement: She is seen at her "birthplace", the site of Crewe Works and now Crewe Heritage Centre, on the demonstration track which runs parallel to Network Rail's line to Chester and North Wales on the other side of the greenery.
There was a brief ceremony held at the platform in the yard area prior to this, in which 1054 was handed-over to the care of representatives of the Bahamas Locomotive Society; Here's to the next 136 years!
