Dear teachers:
Allow me the boldness of interrupting your work to send you a few words on these very important dates. Your Christmas holidays are far from mine, which were more austere and reserved, but they share the same harmonious and community spirit.
I have been observing your work for a long time and, from teacher to teacher, I must admit that it is extremely pleasing to me, because I do not overlook the effort, energy and dedication that you put into it.
I admire the humanist passion and wisdom of the School of Languages and Education; the unfading transformation and modernity of the School of Communication and Arts; the seriousness and entrepreneurial spirit of the School of Economics and Business; the rigor and discipline of the School of Law and International Relations; the innovation and specialization of the Higher Polytechnic School; and the versatility and commitment to knowledge of the School of Life Sciences. I marvel at your students, recipients of your teachings and always willing to take them further, and the care and affection that you show towards them.
I am aware of the tributes and celebrations that are being organized in my name during this fifth centenary. But I feel that this courtesy should be the other way around. I myself am the one who has to thank you for your day-to-day work, lesson by lesson, student by student, whom you accompany from their first moment in the classroom until they complete their final studies; I think now they call it Final Research Project. But I'm not sure.
Thank you for resuming my Legacy and spreading it.
See you in the classrooms.
