Demonstrating the difference in setup on two of our signature low-drag 8 inch freestyle frames:
The Brotherhobby Avenger 2507/1200KV against the Brotherhobby Avenger 2812/1050KV, on our
AlmondRacing AR8 and Fast8 V1 frames, in comparison with the Gkhan 255 6inch frame, sporting 2407R /2500KV EFAW motors.
While the 2507 Avengers are run by an Airbot Typhoon V2 32bit 4in1 ESC, the 2812 Avengers have single ESCs (Airbot Wraith Metal V1). Extra capacitance on both.
At AlmondRacing, we are not preaching light quads or motors. A given function or strength requires material. Concerning mountain environment, though, we have to admit that keeping your quad lightweight is an advantage, even if your frame is already low-drag. The 2507/1200KV setup (on 6s) proved to be more efficient and reliable for vertical play. It just had less mass to accelerate in the opposite direction after a drop, which made the flying more playful and less tense.
If you're looking for a speed-demon of an 8 inch quad, of course, you're spot-on with the 2812's. You may play a bit with the KV's, even.. ;-)
The choice of propellers is once more paramount. The 2507 handle the 8x5 Graupner E-Props just fine, while the 2812 have a merciless
grip on the 8x4 Master Airscrew Windsor Props (..which are a little beefier than the Graupner) and spin them up with ease. Beware, there's a lot of thrust to handle - not unlike a full block w compressor, it may quickly grow more than you've asked for..
