The Ministry of Health is set to conduct more studies on the manifestation of Tuberculosis in Uganda amidst a rising incident and morbidity rate. The latest national survey, conducted in 2019, shows that about 89,000 people contract tuberculosis every year, but this number has now risen to around 90,000 according to health minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng. Dr. Aceng points outs that Kampala with the population of about 2 million people, detects about 7,500 to 9,000 cases of tuberculosis annually, with Lango region taking second place.
