I earned about $20 from "backend" performance royalties in the 3Q of 2018, in addition to the ~$1,000 I earned in "frontend" sync fees. Music licensing has been a great side hustle for me. But I'm surprised that I haven't seen more growth of my backend earnings.

I think the reason my performance royalties from BMI don't grow as fast is that most of the people who license my music aren't doing so for broadcast. So perhaps I need to start working more with libraries that are focused on bigger clients? Either way, I'm always excited to earn more passive income from my side hustle!
