Registering to become a cornea donor means you can give the gift of sight, after you die. In this video, Avril explains why her late husband, John, decided to become a cornea donor. He sadly died from cancer but by donating his corneas, he helped to restore and improve the sight of 2 strangers.
The cornea is the clear outer layer of tissue at the front of the eye which lets in light so that you can see. A person may need a cornea transplant if their eyesight is damaged by certain medical conditions, infections or injuries.
