I am continuously looking for cheap pilot arc plasma cutters to add to my workshop tools and ordered one a few days ago from Amazon. Now I have another nice-looking new pilot arc in my shop which I want to show.
This non-touch pilot arc plasma cutter was quite different from the ones I already have a different brand. I could not say right now that this could be the best plasma cutter for the money because I have not tested its performance yet.
So for this video, I am unboxing it to show you what comes with it when you order the same unit from Amazon and how much you can possibly pay if you’re living in another country. Now, this machine is the Bestarc brand and this is the BTC500D model. And like I say it’s a non-touch pilot arc plasma cutter. So how much did I spend? This cheap pilot arc plasma cutter only costs USD 239 for its retail price.
But since they shipped this to NZ, the shipping, handling, and including GST cost me USD 382.84 or equivalent to NZD 687.84. So what made me buy it despite the other cheaper brands? First, almost all of its adjustments and buttons are on the front panel - the amp, Psi, and Post-time knobs. Yes, you read it right, you can adjust the air pressure right there at the front panel and there’s also the Psi gauge and the LED display for the amps.
Second, this is a multi-voltage unit and its air filter with a water separator is compacted and sealed at the back of the unit and protected by a metal case. So right there, I know this is a very modern pilot arc plasma cutter that weighs heavier than the rest I have which could mean its parts are more solidly made.
And lastly, this cheap pilot arc plasma cutter comes complete with the necessary accessories - air line, sealant tape, a few consumables, a voltage converter cable and an innovative AG-60 pilot arc torch with a 13 foot long cable. However, the only thing I don’t like much with the free freebies is the earth clamp which, as usual, is crappy. But overall, this machine impresses me and it also feels more solid with its thick metal case.
