A residential street in Oldbury was closed off overnight as emergency services and police responded to Lovett Avenue in the Lion Farm estate around 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 29. Despite the paramedics' attempts to treat the teenager for his stab wounds, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. According to the West Midlands Police, detectives are following 'active lines of inquiry to discover who was involved.' A property continues to be cordoned off by police after the fatal stabbing. Detective Superintendent Shaun Edwards from West Midlands Police characterized the incident as 'deeply heartbreaking,' expressing profound sorrow over the loss of a young life. 'We have specialist officers available to support the boy's family,' Edwards mentioned. 'Our detectives are tirelessly working to identify those responsible and apprehend them as quickly as possible.' A representative for West Midlands Police stated, 'We have initiated a murder investigation after a teenager was fatally stabbed at a location in Oldbury. The ambulance service contacted us at around 4 p.m. yesterday regarding a property on Lovett Avenue.' The West Midlands Ambulance Service verified the response to the scene where the schoolboy was discovered with 'life-threatening injuries.' A representative communicated, 'We were alerted to a stabbing at a private location on Lovett Avenue just after 4 p.m. on Thursday. One ambulance, two paramedic officers, the WMAS Critical Care Car, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic, as well as a BASICS emergency doctor, were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, we encountered a teenage boy with critical injuries. Ambulance personnel provided advanced trauma care at the site, but sadly, despite their best efforts, nothing more could be done, and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.' Local residents reported a significant emergency response, with one individual informing BirminghamLive that numerous police vehicles, paramedics, and a police helicopter had responded to the scene. Concerned locals took to social media, indicating that police were going door-to-door seeking information. One resident commented, 'Police have been visiting homes asking if anyone heard anything in the last two hours. They said it was a serious matter but couldn't release details.' A nearby resident revealed that she learned about the incident through Facebook. Upon returning home around 4 p.m., she discovered the street blocked off but managed to get into her property from the back. She noted that while ambulances had departed by around 5 p.m., the cordon and police presence persisted until she went to bed around 10 p.m. Reflecting on the neighborhood, where she has resided for eight years, she expressed that it is 'typically fine.'
