In Reynisfjara, Iceland is a famous Black sand beach.
As we drove through the town to see a beach ranked as one of the ten most beautiful non-tropical beaches in the world, the paved road turned to what looked like mud, yet was really black sand.
Surprisingly the rental vehicle we had with 450,000 km made it through to this outer space-like moody aesthetic of a beach.
Definitely not the type of beach you would lay on a lounger at.
It's one where you can watch intense waves crash against the rock while looking up at puffins.
