In what many are saying was the best British Masters for years, the racing was right out the top draw. On a perfectly prepared track, the GTSA Club did a fantastic job. Could Zach Wajknecht win the title for the second year running, or would James Shanes win his fourth Masters title at the age of 21? Eddie Kennet has been a sensation on the grass this season, and looked to be one of the main contenders, along with former champion Paul Hurry, now in his twilight years of racing, but going almost as well as in his prime.Would the luck of Chris "Bomber" Harris change, and show what a great rider he really is. With another former champion, Andrew Appleton, and Paul Cooper, James Wright, Tom Perry, and Andrew Whitaker all going well, the competition could not be any tougher.
In the RH Sidecars, people love to see the clash between what's got to be the best 2 crews in the country, in Mark Cossar/Carl Blyth, and reigning champions Gareth Winterburn/Liam Brown. Who would come out on top this season and take the title? On a track which has so many overtaking lines, and one banked corner and one flat, this is a thinkers track, you would not be able to leave a gap anywhere. Other contenders in this class have to be Rob Wilson/Terry Saunters, Rob Bradley/Darren Wilce, Rod & Billy Winterburn, Colin Blackbourn/Carl Pugh, Paul Whitelam/Alan Elliott, all former Masters champions, the returned to form Matt Fumarola/Gareth Williams, and the new young crew of Kieran Hicks/Kieron Ivy. A mouth watering line-up of 1000cc RH Sidecars.
The action came thick & fast, with plenty of drama and the odd bit of controversy. This should definitely be awarded meeting of the year. Fantastic venue, fantastic organisation, and fantastic racing.
