Airey Neave, one of Margaret Thatcher's closest confidantes, was assassinated by the Irish National Liberation Army at the Houses Of Parliament on the 30th March 1979. Allegations would later emerge that his assassination was part of the so-called "dirty war" run by British intelligence during the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
