a quick wee fun project that i did at the weekend - this is the basis of a larger set of 8 floor-capable pads i'm making for plum but i wanted a mini one for myself too! doubt i'll be using it to do drum tracks any time soon but i like having it to mess about with and it's actually really handy for auditioning samples, can sellotape the piezos onto my laptop and still get the lid shut as well! Still not sure how a big one will handle the noise of a full PA or longer lead lengths but it should work ok, they don't seem to react to anything other than taps so far. more length is more resistance but that's negligable comared to the mega ohm resistor i have across each piezo.
This uses a teensy 2.0, 5 piezos, 5 mega ohm resistors, pairs phono connectors and pretty much 2 lots of demo code and a hacked bounce library - i hacked it to allow a threshold and to read off analog values instead of digital. The demo code was for 'knock' and for the basic teensy midi with the respective important bits copy and pasted. Works straight off with no drivers in any pc afaict and sends note-ons only and C#5 - F-5. Needs little modification to work with any midi gear at all, it mostly just needs a connector afaik.
