UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has said that he was right to punish Manchester City for breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules in 2018, when they were banned from the Champions League for two years. City appealed the decision and had it overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Ceferin said he respected the court's decision but trusted his independent body. City are still facing charges from the Premier League for 115 breaches of regulations, which could result in severe sanctions. A date has been set for their trial, which is awaited by their rivals, such as Liverpool. The Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said he understood the fans' frustration but the cases were very different.
