PADI Rescue Diver Exercise 4.2 - Uncontrolled Ascent Diving you learn to respond to a panic diver underwater who is about to bolt into an uncontrolled ascent. The PADI Rescue Diver Exercise 4.2 - Uncontrolled Ascent Diving is a very important PADI Rescue Diver skill to learn in the unlikely event you encounter a panic diver while scuba diving.

You will learn the PADI Rescue Diver Exercise 4.2 - Uncontrolled Ascent Diving in your PADI Rescue Diver Course, but it is also part of the PADI Divemaster, PADI IDC Course, and the PADI IE Exam.

A scuba diver can start panicking for the following reasons:

-Being afraid of closed or open spaces
-Breathing the wrong way
-Strong current
-Hypercapnia
-Scarred or nervous
-Bad maintained scuba diving equipment
-Bad or to clear visibility

Many panic divers at the surface are not listening or paying attention. They just want to get buoyant. For this reason they might grab you to stay buoyant on approach. The Panic Diver Underwater Approach is a great technique to use to avoid a struggle with the panic diver.

Rescue Exercise 4 – Distressed Diver Underwater

Correctly identify and respond to a panicked diver making an uncontrolled ascent.

How to perform the PADI Rescue Diver Exercise 4.2 - Uncontrolled Ascent Diving skill correctly:

1. Swim together as a buddy team
2. The buddy starts to panic and tries to bolt to the surface
3. Recognise the situation and grab his or her's BCD and with your other hand deflate the BCD
4. Now calm the panic diver down and ask if he or she is ok
6. Check the SPG and make sure there is enough air to safely continuo the dive
