If you have lower back surgery scheduled then the number one mistake that people make that you must avoid is this:
Stopping doing anything productive for their low back to "wait" until after the back surgery. This is a huge mistake as often you're still doing all the bad things for your back. While you've got the surgery booked for your low back you might as well make use of this time and learn the right sort of exercises to do to help you recover from the back surgery.
Of course, if your surgery is an emergency that's different, but often back surgery is scheduled for a couple of weeks, sometimes we've had patients or members scheduled months out! Make the time to get your body in better condition now! The worst case scenario is that your low back pain recovers better after surgery because you are stronger and move better. Best case is that you realise perhaps you didn't need low back surgery after all!
