About this Event
Conflict or cooperation within the rapidly changing Arctic is the product of the interplay of strategic choices. At its core, strategic choice is a logic of decision making that includes dynamic calculations of changing circumstances, modifying preferences, and adapting expectations under conditions of uncertainty and complexity. Researchers at George Mason University’s Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution are mapping the narrative landscape of strategic choice using published strategies for the Arctic. Now, using serious gaming, they seek to uncover what alternative future Arctic scenarios result in strategic choices of conflict or cooperation - and they need your help to do so. This creative workshop will be an ideation session to generate ideas for the design of a serious game on strategic choices to prepare for navigating the challenges that will emerge in a changing Arctic.
