Because if we stop, they will settle here. We must be a reliable rear. As much as it can be difficult, we should wake up, keep working and do something useful every day."

STORYLINE:
Residents of Kyiv woke up to air raid sirens Wednesday as Ukraine celebrated its independence day and marked six months since the start of the Russian invasion.
Authorities in the capital have banned large-scale gatherings until Thursday, fearing Russian missile attacks, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged the public to be vigilant.
Destroyed Russian tanks and mobile artillery have been put on display in Kyiv's central square where a small number of residents gathered at 7:00 a.m. when the national anthem is played daily over loud speakers.
Among them was 35-year old Kyiv resident, Andriy Zhelvetro, who said, "To be independent is to think, to speak and do what you want. Even in times of war. That's what Ukraine does."
The fear of airstrikes followed a weekend car bombing outside Moscow, which killed Darya Dugina, the daughter of prominent right-wing Russian political theorist Alexander Dugin.
Russia has blamed Ukraine for the attack, while Kyiv denies any involvement.
Wednesday's holiday commemorates Ukraine's 1991 independence from the Soviet Union.
