In this video I’ll share the number one mistake that couples make when planning their weddings.

Planning a wedding is like anything else you do for the first time but the wedding day is not. WIth almost anything new you have to do a little research, kind of figure things out as you go and then when you are ready to do the thing all the research and work helps.

With weddings you learn and you plan, and you design, and then to be successful, you have to have hand it all off. You can have the best plans, spend months researching and hiring and purchasing and timelining and still be a stressed out mess on your wedding day. WHY? It because of that one thing that for some reason most couples overlook. The HANDOFF. Couples do everything but figure out who they will hand off the plans to so they can be the guest of honor at their wedding. Don't make this mistake!

Couples routinely work so hard on their wedding plans and my experience is that the plans are great. Its the handoff that is either not there or is sloppy. Why is this? 2 reasons really. The first is that the couple runs out of time. The other reason is that couples assume other people know what they want and understand their vision without communicated it well to them.

This is the best kept secret of wedding planning and its one that shouldn’t be a secret. I want to shout it from the rooftops, its all about executing the handoff! Even some couples that hire a day of coordinator fall in this trap. It doesn’t matter how experienced a coordinator is, what matters is whether she collects the right information and understands what the couple wants to happen on wedding day. She also needs to be willing to do what they want and not just what she wants or what she thinks is best!
