This talk is presented in the ‘Shona’ language which is largely spoken in the Mashonaland Provinces of Zimbabwe. Munetsi Zvavahera (SAIAB PhD candidate) explains the research on nutrient composition of estuarine round-herring (Gilchristella aestuaria) and how it could potentially be used to fight the nutrient deficiency diseases in poor communities. For this project, Munetsi worked in the Sundays River irrigation system, in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.
The talk is part of a series of short films called ‘Freshwater 5’ (5-minute presentations) produced by the SAIAB Inland Fisheries and Freshwater Ecology research group.
