Today I go off my meds and give you a really crazy theory that I believe may make sense of some of the more abstract elements of the classic 1973 Norman Jewison film "Jesus Christ Superstar.
Besides being a classic film, one of the best musicals of the 70's, it's also got what I believe is a deep theological meaning that director Norman Jewison intentionally added in by the use of a very simple framing device which changes how we see the actors, their characters and even the anachronistic settings. This is probably the most crazy theory I've ever personally come up with, so I want to know your thoughts in the comments. What do you think about this film and am I really far off in my interpretations? You decide!
Jesus Christ Superstar is a 1973 American musical drama film directed by Norman Jewison and jointly written for the screen by Jewison and Melvyn Bragg; they based their screenplay on the 1970 rock opera of the same name, the libretto of which was written by Tim Rice and whose music was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Starring Ted Neely and Carl Anderson.
