This video is an excerpt from the 1st Reunion and Commemoration of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda. That was organized by IBUKA USA in 2022 at Utah State, United States of America.

"Esther Mujawayo, a therapist and activist, lost almost all of her immediate family during the Rwandan genocide, including her parents, most of her siblings, and her husband.

Working with journalist Souâd Belhaddad, she has published two books describing her experiences. SurVivantes explores the psychological effects of trauma on genocide survivors. La fleur de Stéphanie: Rwanda entre réconciliation et déni meanwhile recounts her efforts to find the bodies of her family members, especially that of her beloved sister, Stéphanie.

Mujawayo is a founder of the Association of Widows of April’s Genocide (AVEGA), which provides psychological and material support to widows who are survivors of the Tutsi genocide. She works at the Psychosocial Center for Refugees in Düsseldorf, providing therapy for African refugees."
