“Tanko Bushi” (Coal mine folk song)
This is a coal mining song from the Chikuho coalfield region of northern Kyushu. Originally one of the work songs sung by coal miners, the folk song changed with the times and was adopted in Bon Odori festival dances. The dance is so simple that anyone can easily learn it, making it a popular one throughout Japan.
