VADODARA: A female leopard accidentally fell into a well at Runvad village in Chhota Udepur district sometime before Wednesday early morning.
The leopard was sighted by the owner of the farm where the well is located. The farmer later alerted forest department for the animal’s rescue. Forest department officials said that the leopard is clung to an iron rod concretized in the wall of the well.
“We are planning to lower a cot tied with a rope to bring the leopard out,” said a forest department official.
As the news of the leopard spread around the village, many people crowded to have a glimpse of the animal. “We are trying to keep the crowd away as the leopard must already be under pani and seeing so many people around, it may agitate,” the official added. Forest department officials believe that the leopard would have fallen at night due to darkness.
