Considered one of the most beautiful cities in Poland, Gdansk is located in the north of the country on the shores of the Baltic Sea. From Olowianka Island, surrounded by the waters of the Motlawa River, which flows nearby into the Vistula River, we enjoyed a stroll along the shore where beautiful historic buildings stand out, among which the great Medieval Crane is particularly notable. We entered the historic center and walked along Amber Street, filled with artisan amber stalls, which is one of the most visited and photographed places in the city. We moved to the street that makes up the so-called Royal Route, from the Green Gate to the Golden Gate, surrounded by monuments and beautiful and colorful houses. Very close by is the imposing Basilica of St. Mary, the largest Catholic church in Poland and the largest brick church in Europe, from whose tower we will have an incredible panoramic view of Gdansk. On a parallel street, we find the Great Armory, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. Despite it being Monday and some museums being closed, we continued to enjoy the stroll and made our way to another of the most photogenic spots, the Bread Bridge or Love Bridge, which is truly worth photographing. Very close by, we found the Basilica of St. Brigid, which, in addition to the relics of the saint, houses the incredible Amber Altar inside. Later, we moved to the bay of the Baltic Sea and visited the Westerplatte Peninsula, a famous place because the first battles of World War II took place here. Thanks to the heroic defense of the Polish soldiers, who put up great resistance against the German forces, it has become one of the symbols of heroism and resilience.
