Zero Sei is a traditional Roman trattoria in Old Theatre Street in Valletta. The restaurant is owned and managed by Fausto, a native of Rome and his family who bring you a cuisine best described as “food that mamma makes”. The restaurant itself is on two levels and is homely and cosy. Fausto and staff welcome you like old friends and make you feel special right from the start.
The food is traditional Italian leading you from a welcome bite of tomato bruschetta through antipasti of fresh burrata with honey and pistachio, or their selection of fritti comprising supplì, codfish and zucchini flowers. Pasta is homemade and includes traditional favourites of the simple but tasty pecorino cheese and black pepper, carbonara and amatriciana with tomato sauce, pork cheek and pecorino. Mains are served with chips and salad and include veal with lemon, meat balls or rib-eye with rocket and parmesan. There is much to admire in the simple presentation and great taste. Desserts end your evening on a sweet note and include a light panna cotta with berries. There is no need of a wine list; they have their own cellar so feel free to browse downstairs or consult with Fausto for the ideal accompaniment to your dish.
