STORYLINE:
Prague Zoo on Friday celebrated the birth of a baby western lowland gorilla.

The infant, as they are called by zoologists, was born in the early hours of Friday morning.

The yet unnamed baby, born to adult female, Kijiva, joins another lowland gorilla, Mobi, born just three months ago.

The new arrival marks the first time in the zoo’s history it will have two baby lowland gorillas on display at the same time.

The baby will be named later after the zoo takes suggestions from the public.

Western lowland gorillas number fewer than 150,000 in the wild and are classed as critically endangered.
