Saturday Train Variety at Carlisle:

Sherwood Forester
Class 56s

Passenger assortment
15 July 23
Galatea, still with its Sierra Leone nameplate and Alberta cabside numbers, brought in the Cumbrian Mountain express around an hour late, having run short of steam before being put in the loops at Tebay. And this is with an experienced crew. Before she left to travel over the Settle & Carlisle line, there was sufficient steam for both safety valves to be blowing!
While waiting for the CME, a pair of Colas 56s headed south to Bescot.
Later in the afternoon, with rain now pouring, Locomotive Services Black 5 Sherwood Forester brought in an excursion from Colchester. It would be diesel hauled on return to that town, via Newcastle. The Black 5 stayed overnight in High Wapping Siding. It was turned via Currock Junction and Bog Junction en route to the WCML and Crewe at Upperby.
We also see several passenger trains and a couple of intermodals.
