The 2025 Honda Civic Sedan is now arriving at dealerships, with an exciting new addition – the Civic Hybrid – set to follow next week. This refreshed Civic lineup builds upon the success of the eleventh-generation model, which was named the 2022 North American Car of the Year. The new lineup includes updated styling, improved technology, and for the first time, the option of a hybrid-electric powertrain. This hybrid version will be available as either a sedan or hatchback, and Honda expects it to make up about forty percent of Civic sales, as part of their broader electrification goals.
The 2025 Civic Sedan comes in four trims: LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid. The base LX trim starts at $24,250, not including a $1,095 destination charge, while the hybrid-powered Sport Hybrid starts at $28,750.
"Our 2025 Honda Civic is set to bring fresh energy to an already successful model, which has taken the top spot in the compact car segment this year, capturing over 25 percent of the market," said Lance Woelfer, vice president of Auto Sales at American Honda. "The new Civic Hybrid is a timely and powerful addition to our lineup, joining the Accord Hybrid, CR-V Hybrid, and the fully electric Prologue."
The hybrid Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid trims use the same two-motor hybrid-electric system found in the Accord and CR-V, producing 232 pound-feet of torque. These models offer quicker acceleration than the previous 1.5-liter turbo version of the Civic, while also delivering excellent fuel efficiency, with an estimated 50 miles per gallon in the city and 49 miles per gallon combined, according to the EPA.
Honda has also focused on enhancing the driving experience with the hybrid models. Special tuning for the suspension and a custom-developed tire improve the ride quality, while noise, vibration, and harshness are minimized thanks to a comprehensive noise reduction package. This includes Active Noise Control for all hybrid models and wheel resonators on the Sport Touring.
All Civic models come standard with the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver assistance features. For 2025, the system has been upgraded to better detect motorcycles and bicycles, improving the performance of the Collision Mitigation Braking System with Pedestrian Detection.
The Civic remains a key entry point to the Honda brand, especially for Generation Z, first-time buyers, and diverse customer groups. Later this summer, the Civic Hatchback, including its first-ever hybrid version, will be available at dealerships. Additionally, Honda will announce updates for the 2025 Civic Type R and Civic Si in the coming months.
