Inspired by the successful experiences of UNDP Colombia and UNDP El Salvador, in 2019 UNDP Uruguay launched Plantatón, an initiative that aims to restore forests from planting native trees.
In this way, we seek to contribute to the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030 and Uruguay’s commitment to climate change adaptation measure.
On the first day of work, around 1000 volunteers joined the planting of more than 500 trees in four locations of the North of the country.
