The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway is currently a one mile, spectacular stretch of railway that runs from Woody Bay Station in North Devon (where there is ample car parking) to Killington Lane in Parracombe. There are big plans to re - open the entire independent narrow gauge line which is picturesque beyond words, but it will take much time and money. It was closed in 1935. Passengers can enjoy riding in beautiful Victorian designed railway coaches and can choose between first or third class.
The railway workers are mainly all volunteers and the project is run by a non profit educational organisation.
In this video you can sample a glimpse of the journey and the awesome surrounding countryside. This trip is a must do if you are in the North Devon area.
I filmed this video in October 2022 and the price of the all day ticket (valid for as many journeys as you like on the day) was £7.50.
