There have been echoes of the December 16 Delhi gangrape case in Assam with demands of justice for a women left to die by her attackers last Friday in Lakhimpur..Massive outcry by people hitting the streets made the govt constitute an SIT to probe the matter..Though one arrest has taken place..the post mortem report has ruled out sexual assault..but the case has drawn attention to how authorities respond to cases of crimes against women despite laws being changed to ensure stricter punishment..
