I am flying the holiday airline TUI fly for the first time in years. Actually, this is the Dutch daughter company of TUI fly. The last time I've flown with this airline must have been 10 years ago or longer. I believe, the airline was named Arte Fly at the time. It had almost the same logo as TUI fly but in an orange color scheme.
This TUI flight from Amsterdam to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has number OR1633. The total flying time is about 4 hours. The flight is operated with a Boeing 737-8 MAX which carries 189 passengers in TUI's all economy class configuration.
The flight was quite OK. Our departure in Amsterdam was delayed due to a delay of the incoming aircraft from Kos. However, the delay was compensated in the air and the arrival in Las Palmas was according to the original schedule at 6:50 pm. The cabin crew was very friendly and there were two flight updates from the cockpit. TUI fly doesn't offer complementary inflight service. So you have to order and pay for any snacks, sandwiches and drinks. But these are quite reasonably priced. The only problem is the horrible seat pitch. You keep bumping your knees against the seat in front.
Anyway, I can't complain too much. The return ticket from Amsterdam to Las Palmas was very reasonably priced. It cost me just EUR 290. This included reserved window seats on both the outbound and inbound flight but only carry on luggage (up to 10kg). The fare was much lower than the fares of Iberia and Vueling and the 'low cost' fares of Transavia and Ryanair. Moreover, Iberia and Vueling don't operate direct flights between Amsterdam and Las Palmas. You need to connect in Madrid or Barcelona El Prat.
