The St. Louis Metropolitan Pandemic Task Force will hold a briefing Tuesday as cases in the area have started increasing in recent days.

As of Monday, the county is averaging 189 new cases per day, according to data from the St. Louis County Health Department. That's a 30% increase in cases over the previous week and places the county back into the CDC's 'high' transmission category.

Both County Executive Sam Page and task force leader Dr. Clay Dunagan said they believe the region could see a winter surge of COVID-19.
