(1 Apr 2020) In an attempt to combat the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus, authorities in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo begun installing locally produced disinfection tunnels outside the city's administration buildings.
The first such tunnel was installed Wednesday at the entrance to the local council building of the central Sarajevo municipality.
While passing through the tunnel, people are coated in and inhale vaporized disinfectants.
The walkway of the tunnel is designed in way to disinfect the soles of the shoes of people passing through it.
The tunnel was developed and built by Sarajevo-based company, Grizelj, which - among other things - produces government-approved hydrogen peroxide disinfectant solutions and disinfection equipment that utilizes copper-silver ionization technology.
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.
For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
The vast majority of people recover.
The new coronavirus has caused a global pandemic that has sickened at least 874,081, killed 43,29 worldwide, crippled economies and forced restrictions on the movement of millions of people in an effort to stop the virus from spreading further and overwhelming health care systems.
