A silent hunger crisis is unfolding across Burkina Faso and West Africa. Save the Children is tackling the most important causes of child morbidity and mortality. The project is building resilience and providing the poorest families with income during the lean season, between harvests. In 34 villages families also receive chickens for livelihood and training in agriculture. As one major reason for child malnourishment is diarrhea we help communities to improve hygiene conditions by building latrines and providing hygiene education.
The project is funded by the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO), Department for International Development (DFID) and Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
