Inoperative Bank Account in Details
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) defines an inoperative bank account as a savings or current account that has had no customer-induced transactions for more than two years. Banks may also label an account as inactive if there are no transactions for more than a year, or dormant if it's inactive for more than two to three years.
When an account is inoperative, the account holder can't make payments, transfer money, withdraw funds, or log in. To reduce fraud, banks convert idle accounts into inoperative accounts.
To make account operative again:
1. Submit latest KYC documents
2. Withdraw at least 100 from cash counter
