RACE BIAS IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM
The Guardian covers a report written by Labour MP David Lammy, which was commissioned in January 2016 by then PM, David Cameron, and has been supported by Theresa May. The report concluded there is overt racial prejudice in criminal justice system against black and minority ethnic groups - although it is declining.
It's proposes tackling the bias through practices such as deferring or dropping prosecutions against some black and minority ethnic suspects, provided they complete a rehabilitative programme.
