On March 22nd, 2024 Alberta's 11 Watershed Planning & Advisory Councils (WPACs) came together to celebrate World Water Day. This year's UN theme was "Leveraging Water for Peace," and we brought on three diverse speakers to share their perspectives on what this means to them.
Alberta's Deputy Environment minister, Sherri Wilson made an address to welcome our speakers on behalf of the Honourable Rebecca Shultz. Adam Norris, Watershed Coordinator for the Mighty Peace Watershed Alliance hosted the webinar. Additionally, Michelle Gordy, Watershed Coordinator at the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance premiered two of the "Watershed Moments" Animated video series.
Our speakers, Azure Johnson, Andre Asselin, and Oliver Brandes presented their topics and then took questions from the audience during a joint panel.
Speaker 1: Azure Johnson - Indigenous Knowledge Keeper & Director of Azure and Company: Advancing Reconciliation Through Community Building
Speaker 2: Andre Asselin - Executive Director of the Alberta Water Council:
