College lacrosse player Jacob Saccal suffered through much of his freshman and sophomore seasons with an ever-worsening sports hernia. After being misdiagnosed several times, Jacob turned to Lora Melman, MD, FACS, FASMBS, an advanced minimally invasive surgeon at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Dr. Melman was able to properly diagnose Jacob and surgically repair his painful case of athletic pubalgia by performing an inguinal floor reinforcement and adductor tendon release.
