Shaq, 50 Cent and Kenya Barris are trying to buy BET - Dr Boyce Watkins. Hearing about various celebrities trying to buy BET is interesting to me, considering that BET's parent company, Paramount, lost over a billion dollars last quarter.

While the opportunity for black ownership is intriguing, one wonders what direction the culture will pursue once this ownership has taken place. Diddy and Tyler Perry, along with Byron Allen, are all in the running to own BET, which should make for an intriguing competition.
