The AIADMK broke its alliance with the BJP on Monday after a meeting at the party headquarters in Tamil Nadu.
This came after a rift between the two parties over Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai's controversial remarks about former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Dravidian icon CN Annadurai. "AIADMK unanimously passed a resolution in the meeting. AIADMK is breaking all ties with the BJP and the NDA alliance from today. The state leadership of the BJP has been continuously making unnecessary remarks about our former leaders, our general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and our cadres for the past one year," said AIADMK's K P Munusamy, as quoted by news agency ANI.
