Interesting facts about the Bible: How many of each animal entered the Ark? There are two different flood stories in the Bible. According to one author, Noah was ordered to take two of every sort, but according to other author, a pair of unclean animals, but birds and clean animals, 7 pairs each, so that he could then sacrifice them. In one story God is called Yahweh, in another Elohim. In one story, the flood lasts 40 days, but in another, it lasts 150 days. In one, God behaves like a human. He personally closes the door of the ark after Noah and personally comes to smell the sacrifice. In another story, God is transcendent. He doesn’t require animal sacrifice at all. But why? Scholars believe because it was written by a descendant of Aaron, who believed that no one before Aaron, neither Adam, nor Noah, nor Abraham, no one had the right to offer a sacrifice to God.
There are two passages that speak of how many of each animal entered Noah's ark.
And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female (Genesis 6:19).
You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two of each animals that are unclean, a male and his female; also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of the earth (Genesis 7:2,3).
