From 15 to 17 October 2024, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities hosted its 47th plenary session in Strasbourg. This event marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the #CoECongress as well as the 10th anniversary of its pioneering #Rejuvenating Politics initiative.

The session provided the opportunity for local and regional elected representatives and youth delegates from all over #Europe to debate on issues such as ageing communities, #circulareconomy, the role of local representatives in protecting #humanrights, the role of regions in #Ukraine ’s reconstruction, the situation of regions with special status, the application of the European Charter of Local Self-Government in #Finland, #Iceland, #Latvia and #Malta, the local #elections in #Türkiye, the situation in #Georgia..

The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities is an institution of the #CouncilofEurope, responsible for strengthening local and regional democracy in its 46 member states and assessing the application of the European Charter of Local Self-Government. #Democracy, #HumanRights, #RuleofLaw
