When we look at the Alaron TR563 Rim Drive 3-inch Reel To Reel tape recorder, we see a Japanese built tape recorder. But, when we look on the back of the recorder, we discover that it had a U.S. Patent and was actually built for sale by an American Import company, Allaron, Inc.
Alaron portable tape recorders seem to have a design edge over their competition, with the TR563 being their most unusual design. It would be of great historical interest o hear and experience this machine in full function. In it's current condition, the recorder does not work.
In this series of videos, Clydesight explores the Alaron T563 reel to reel mono tape recorder and will attempt to restore it to fully functional condition. This series is “ad lib”, meaning what you see is what Clydesight experiences doing the project
In Ep.1 of this series, Clydesight explores the functions and controls of the tape recorder, explaining what each part does and why they were included in this tape recorder. Future videos in this series will explore the internal mechanics and functions of this vintage tape recorder during the restoration process.
