Meen peera
Ingredients
1. Any small type fish – 500 gm
2. Shallots chopped – 1 cup
3. Garlic chopped – ½ cup
4. Ginger chopped – ½ cup
5. Green chilli chopped – 8 to 12
6. Grated coconut – 1 to 1 ½ cups
7. Kerala kokum (soaked) – 2 to 3
8. Salt - to taste
9. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
10. Chilli powder (opt) – ½ tsp
11. Coconut oil – 1 to 2 tbsp
12. Curry leaves – 4 to 5 twigs
13. Fenugreek powder – 2 big pinches
Preparation
1. Into an earthenware pot put items 2 to 10, mix and squeeze with the hand.
2. Add the fish & gently mix. Set aside for 10 to 20 minutes.
3. Boil adding ½ cup water, on slow fire for 6 to 8 minutes.
4. Add coconut oil & stir, remove, garnish with curry leaves & fenugreek powder.
