Greater Anglia for quite some time now have been trying their hardest to get 'Norwich in 90' to become a reality. On the 20th May 2019, that very epiphany happened to the public for the first time.
Seen at four locations in the Ardleigh and Colchester area, 90001 and 82114 can be seen piloting the train on 9P91 and 9P93 from Norwich to London Liverpool Street, and 9P90 and 9P92 from London Liverpool Street to Norwich.
The inaugural run is firstly sighted at Ardleigh where 90001 can be seen barreling south on 9P91 from Norwich to London Liverpool Street. This service was above average and covered the 114 mile end-to-end journey in 88 minutes!
Next, it's over to St Dominics Road where 82114 can be seen climbing past on 9P90 from London Liverpool Street to Norwich. The set on the return run managed the lengthy journey this time, slap bang in the 90 minute figure!
Afterwards, and now in some glorious evening light, 90001 howls south under Shaws Farm on 9P93 from Norwich to London Liverpool Street.
Finally, we head to Suffolk Close to see the Mk3 formation heading up grade on 9P92 from London Liverpool Street.
These direct and fast services will run from Monday to Saturday now the new May timetable change is in place.
Thanks for choosing South East Train Hub, and enjoy!
