Colombia is well known for its coffee, some would say the best in the world. But what about within Colombia? Is all the coffee equal? I had the opportunity to do a coffee tour in Minca, in the north of the country, and Salento in the central west of the country. These two bags of coffee cost the same price (20k pesos), but which coffee is better? Well, let's take a look at my experiences on two very different coffee tours and afterward I'll tell you my impressions.
Okay, so let's compare these tours and what made me like each one:
Minca vs Salento
-Intimate tour (5 people) in Spanish
-Experience was more raw, more authentic
-Felt closer to the real process
Salento vs Minca
-tour more entertaining
-learned more fun facts
-the science of coffee has increased my appreciation for it
I learned in Salento (Finca El Ocaso) that it's less about the bean and more about the preparation. With the help of the scientific process, the coffee in Salento tasted better. But, I imagine if I use the same process with the beans from Salento, I'd have a cup of coffee that's just as good. Leave me a comment below and let me know if you want to see me do a video where I compare the taste of these two coffee beans using the same process. Thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next video!
