Rishikesh - located in the state of Uttarakhand, is also known as the yoga capital of the world. Rishikesh is full of people who come to learn yoga and meditation.There are numerous places where you can practice yoga and other ancient Indian wellness traditions.

I started my trip from Dehradun at about 10 AM and reached Rishikesh at 2 PM. The weather was cool in the day and cold in the night. If you have more time, you can also visit nearby cities such as Dehradun (44 kms) and Haridwar (51 kms) and Mussoorie (72 kms), . The best time to visit Rishikesh is Oct - March, although weather in Rishikesh can be very cold at night during the winter months of Dec-Feb.

Rishikesh also boasts a huge number of cafes and restuarents which cater to different tastes. The famous band 'Beatles' visited Rishikesh in 1968 and there is also an ashram called as the 'Beatles Ashram'. Also remember that Rishikesh is a dry city - meaning that sale and consumption is banned here.
