(21 Jun 2020) As Spain's national state of emergency ended on Sunday relatives at a Madrid care home were able to visit their loved ones.
As of Sunday, 47 million Spaniards will be able to freely move around the entire country for the first time since the government declared a state of emergency due on March 14.
With the lifting of restrictions residents at Las Praderas care home can now receive two visits a week, from two relatives for one hour.
The visits are always an emotional moment for many at the home.
84 year old Elena Martinez was visited by her grandson Pablo Navarro and could not hold back the tears over seeing him again.
"It is a long time since I have seen him," she said.
Over 19,000 elderly are believed to have died in care homes across the country due to the virus pandemic.
